Check whether ChatGPT is billed on web or mobile

To cancel a paid ChatGPT subscription, first check where the subscription was started. If you subscribed on the web, OpenAI directs users to manage the plan from ChatGPT account settings and the subscription management flow.

If you subscribed through the iOS App Store or Google Play, cancel from that store instead. The ChatGPT app may show the plan, but Apple or Google controls the billing if the subscription was purchased there.

Use the matching cancellation path

Use the route that matches your receipt:

  • web subscription: open ChatGPT, go to account settings, then manage the paid plan
  • iPhone or iPad subscription: open Apple subscriptions and cancel the ChatGPT plan there
  • Android subscription: open Google Play subscriptions and cancel the ChatGPT plan there
  • team or workspace billing: check the workspace billing area or ask the workspace owner

Deleting the app from your phone does not cancel the subscription. Cancel from the billing source and keep the confirmation.

Save the renewal date

After canceling, note when paid access ends. That date matters if you are switching to another AI tool, keeping a free account, or deciding whether to restart later.

If you still use other AI, productivity, or cloud subscriptions, check those at the same time. These tools often sit on monthly renewals and are easy to miss because they are tied to different accounts.

Before the next renewal catches you

Canceling ChatGPT handles one subscription. Orbit helps you keep the rest visible.

Add the subscriptions and bills you want to keep, see what renews next, and get reminders before free trials end or regular renewals are due. When you review your list, it is easier to spot tools you no longer use and cancel them before the next charge.

People like Orbit because it is focused: no full budgeting dashboard and no bank-link requirement, just a clear iPhone app for subscriptions, trials, bills, reminders, widgets, and calmer renewal decisions.
