Check whether ChatGPT is billed on web or mobile

To cancel ChatGPT, first check where you paid. For a personal plan bought on chatgpt.com, sign in, open your profile menu, choose Settings, open Billing, then choose Cancel under Cancel plan. If Apple or Google billed you, cancel in that store instead. OpenAI recommends cancelling at least 24 hours before the next billing date.

If you subscribed through the iOS App Store or Google Play, cancel from that store instead. The ChatGPT app may show the plan, but Apple or Google controls the billing if the subscription was purchased there.

Cancel the plan that matches your receipt

ChatGPT on the web

  1. Sign in to ChatGPT.
  2. Open your profile menu and choose Settings.
  3. Choose Billing.
  4. Under Cancel plan, choose Cancel.
  5. Finish the prompts until the plan shows as cancelled.
  6. Keep the confirmation and note the final access date.

ChatGPT bought through Apple or Google

  • On iPhone or iPad, open Settings, tap your name, choose Subscriptions, then choose ChatGPT.
  • On Android, open Google Play, make sure the correct Google Account is active, then open Payments & subscriptions and Subscriptions.

Deleting the app from your phone does not cancel the subscription. Cancel from the billing source and keep the confirmation.

If ChatGPT does not appear in Apple or Google subscriptions, check your email for a receipt from OpenAI. A web purchase must be cancelled on chatgpt.com. If you have more than one ChatGPT login, use the account that received the receipt.

ChatGPT Business

OpenAI's current Business flow is under Workspace settings and Billing. Choose Manage plan, then Cancel subscription. Enterprise and Edu plans are not covered by OpenAI's self-service cancellation article; ask the workspace owner or account contact.

If you see two ChatGPT charges

It is possible to start separate subscriptions on the web and through a mobile store. OpenAI warns that moving between chatgpt.com, Apple, and Google without cancelling the first plan can create duplicate charges.

Match each charge to its receipt, then check all three billing places:

  • chatgpt.com account billing
  • Apple subscriptions for every Apple Account you use
  • Google Play subscriptions for every Google Account you use

Cancel only the duplicate you do not want. Keep both cancellation confirmation and the original receipt until the extra billing has stopped.

Save the renewal date

OpenAI says cancellation takes effect the day after the next billing date, so paid access continues until then. Subscription fees are generally non-refundable, although refund rights and processes vary by billing source and location. Apple handles Apple-billed refund requests; OpenAI's Help Center handles eligible web and Google Play requests.

If you cannot access the account email, contact OpenAI support with the account email, the last four digits of the payment card, and the date of the most recent payment. Do not delete an account merely as a shortcut unless you intend the deletion to be permanent.

If you still use other AI, productivity, or cloud subscriptions, check those at the same time. These tools often sit on monthly renewals and are easy to miss because they are tied to different accounts.

Before the next renewal catches you

Canceling ChatGPT handles one subscription. Orbit helps you keep the rest visible.

Add the subscriptions and bills you want to keep, see what renews next, and get reminders before free trials end or regular renewals are due. When you review your list, it is easier to spot tools you no longer use and cancel them before the next charge.

People like Orbit because it is focused: no full budgeting dashboard and no bank-link requirement, just a clear iPhone app for subscriptions, trials, bills, reminders, widgets, and calmer renewal decisions.
