Start with your Spotify account

If Spotify bills you directly, start from your Spotify account page. Spotify's support guidance points users to Manage your subscription, where you can change plan and move from Premium back to Spotify Free.

In practice, the important path is:

  1. Sign in to the Spotify account that has Premium.
  2. Open the account or plan area.
  3. Choose the option to change or manage the plan.
  4. Choose Spotify Free or Cancel Premium.
  5. Continue until Spotify confirms the change.

Do not rely on deleting the Spotify app. Removing the app does not cancel Premium.

If you cannot cancel inside Spotify

Spotify Premium can be billed through a partner, such as a phone provider, internet provider, app store, or another payment system. If Spotify says the plan is associated with a partner, you need to cancel through that partner.

Check:

  • the Spotify account page
  • your email receipts
  • Apple subscriptions, if you subscribed through Apple
  • Google Play subscriptions, if you subscribed through Google Play
  • your phone or internet provider
  • PayPal or the payment method shown on receipts

This prevents the common mistake of canceling the wrong account while the actual payment source keeps renewing.

Check what happens after cancellation

Spotify says that if you cancel Premium, you can keep what you paid for until the end of the billing period. After that, the account switches to Spotify Free. If you cancel during a free trial, Spotify says the account may switch back to free immediately.

After you cancel, write down:

  • the Spotify account email
  • the cancellation date
  • the next billing date or final Premium date
  • whether the plan was Individual, Duo, Family, Student, or partner-billed
  • any replacement music service you are keeping

That record is useful if you see another charge later or if you are cleaning up several subscriptions at once.

Track trials and renewals before they charge

Canceling Spotify Premium solves one recurring charge. The better long-term habit is knowing which music, video, storage, and app subscriptions are still active before they renew.

Orbit helps you keep subscriptions and free trials in a focused iPhone list. You can add the services you keep, set reminders before renewals, and review subscriptions that no longer get much use.

It is not about canceling everything. It is about seeing what still earns its place.
