Start from YouTube paid memberships

Google's YouTube Help says YouTube Premium and YouTube Music Premium subscribers can cancel, pause, or resume a paid membership. The official cancellation route is through YouTube's paid membership management flow.

  1. Sign in to the Google account that has Premium.
  2. Open the Purchases and memberships or paid memberships area.
  3. Choose the YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium membership.
  4. Choose the cancellation option.
  5. Follow the prompts until the change is confirmed.

If you have more than one Google account, check the account shown in YouTube before assuming the subscription is missing.

Check whether Apple or another provider bills you

Some YouTube Premium subscriptions are managed outside the normal YouTube billing flow, depending on how the membership was started. If YouTube does not show the cancellation route you expect, check the payment source.

Look at:

  • the Google account used for YouTube
  • YouTube receipts in email
  • Apple subscriptions on iPhone, if you subscribed through Apple
  • Google Play subscriptions, if relevant
  • PayPal or card statements
  • a mobile provider or bundle that included YouTube Premium

The billing source matters more than the YouTube app itself.

Check pause, trial, and renewal timing

YouTube Premium may show options to cancel, pause, or resume depending on the membership and region. Before choosing, check whether you are in a trial, monthly plan, annual plan, family plan, or YouTube Music Premium plan.

After you cancel, record:

  • the Google account email
  • the cancellation date
  • whether it was YouTube Premium or YouTube Music Premium
  • the final access date or next billing date
  • whether you paused instead of canceling

This gives you a clean trail if another charge appears later.

Track free trials before they become paid

YouTube Premium is exactly the kind of subscription people forget because it often starts as a trial, bundle, or convenience upgrade.
